After law school Deb returned to Vermont to clerk with Justice Louis Peck of the Vermont Supreme Court. Following this clerkship she joined the Burlington office of the law firm Langrock, Sperry, Parker and Wool where she represented individuals, businesses and local governments in a variety of civil matters. In 1990, Deb left the private practice of law for public service, as she became the founding director of the Vermont League of Cities and Towns (VLCT) Municipal Law Center.

As the Director of the VLCT Municipal Law Center Deb published numerous handbooks and academic papers on topics of municipal law, presented educational programs for local officials, and helped to craft legislation to enable local governments to more effectively enforce violations of municipal ordinances. Her most recent handbook, the Vermont Municipal Guide to Land Use Regulations, is being used by zoning offices and attorneys across Vermont.

Deb has been an adjunct faculty at Vermont Law School and Woodbury College, teaching professional ethics, and she has lectured locally and nationally on issues related to municipal law and on ethics in government. Deb has also served on numerous professional and community boards, including the Vermont Board of Bar Examiners.

Deb is married with three children.  Her other interests include singing, needlecrafts, biking, skiing and -most recently - rollerblading.
