Finding Funding Sources

Information about funding sources is available at many of the largest libraries in the state and at most college and university libraries. Most of the materials do not circulate, but may be used in the library. Contact Reference and Law Services at the Vermont Department of Libraries (802/828-3268) to locate a particular source or library in your area.

The Vermont Department of Libraries maintains the most complete grants collection in the state. The collection is housed in the law library, part of Reference and Law Services. The collection includes print directories as well as CD-ROM databases. The emphasis is on private foundations. Annual reports and copies of tax returns for Vermont foundations are available. Tax returns for foundations outside Vermont can be obtained upon request. The public is welcome to use the collection and reference staff is available to provide assistance in the library. The law library is located at the Pavilion Office Building, 109 State Street, Montpelier, and is open 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Since grant research is often time consuming, the reference staff can give only limited help in response to phone, fax, mail or email inquires.

Information about funding is also available through the Internet. Several useful web sites are:
