FOREST A. BUCKLAND of Newport Center, Orleans County, Republican, was born on January 3, 1926 in Newport City, Vermont and became a resident of Newport town in August, 1990. Occupation: retired from machine tool industry; former economic development coordinator, Northeastern Vermont Development Association. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He is married to the former Joan Howe, and they have two sons and one daughter. He was educated in elementary and secondary schools in Newport, Vermont; Tufts University, Medford, Massachusetts (B.S.E.E., 1951); Western New England College, Springfield, Massachusetts (studies toward M.B.A.). WILLIAM A. FYFE of Newport City, Orleans County, Republican, was born in Melrose, Massachusetts on July 30, 1916 and became a resident of present town in April, 1966. Occupation: superintendent, Orleans County Jail, seven years; comptroller, Northeast Kingdom Mental Health, four years; hospital administrator, four years; manager, superintendent and auditor, Swift & Co., twenty-two years. He was educated in elementary schools in Malden, Massachusetts, Portland and Auburn, Maine; Edward Little High School, Auburn, Maine; and Maine School of Commerce. He is married to the former Barbara R. Potter, and they have one daughter and two sons.
