Vermont Governor Richard A. Snelling,

The correspondence, memos, administrative and policy reports, press releases, proclamations, etc. of Governor Snelling's first administration. The first two terms of his administration are more thoroughly documented than the later terms. The records are divided into thirty three series.

Richard A. Snelling, a Republican, served four consecutive terms as governor, the longest serving Vermont executive since the early nineteenth century. Snelling was a member of the Vermont House of Representatives from 1959-1961 and 1973-1977. He was House Majority Leader from 1975-1977. In November 1990, Snelling was again elected governor. He died in office August 13, 1991.
