MAUREEN P. DAKIN of Colchester, Chittenden County, Democrat, was born in Proctor, Vermont on March 17, 1950 and became a resident of her present town in 1973. Occupation: Executive director, Vermont Association of Life Underwriters. She attended elementary school in West Rutland; West Rutland High School; University of Vermont (B.A., 1972); Trinity College (B.A., 1989). She is married to Robert E. Dakin, and they have one daughter and one son. Member of: Vermont and American Societies of Association Executives; State and National Associations of Life Underwriters. Former member, Vermont Human Services Board. Colchester justice of the peace. Member of the House: 1997-1998 (appointed on September 23, 1997). Religious preference: Roman Catholic. MARY P. SIMPERS of Colchester, Chittenden County, Republican, was born in East Middlebury, Vermont on March 17, 1934 and became a resident of her present town in February of 1959. Occupation: co-owner of Poseidon Air Systems, a division of Victory Auto and Sports, Inc. of Colchester. She was educated in elementary schools in East Middlebury; Middlebury High School; and the University of Vermont (B.S. Nursing, 1957). She is married to Harold J. Simpers, and they have two daughters and two grandchildren. Member of: Board of Civil Authority (11th term); Community Access TV (Channel 2), board of directors; Vermont Retail Association, insurance advisory board; Mount Independence Coalition, board of directors; Colchester Community Development Commission; Colchester Historical Society (charter member); Chittenden County Historical Society; UVM School of Nursing Alumni Association; Friends of the Burnham Library; Republican Town Committee.
