MALCOLM F. SEVERANCE of Colchester, Chittenden County, Republican, was born in Colchester on October 9, 1924 and has been a resident of Colchester continuously since 1960. Occupation: retired. He was educated at Colchester Union School, Colchester, Vermont; Edumunds High School, Burlington, Vermont; University of Vermont, Burlington, Vermont (B.S., 1949); and the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin (Ph.D., 1958). He is married to the former Gladys Clark, and they have two daughters and a son. MICHAEL C. VINTON of Colchester, Chittenden County, Democrat, was born in Newport, Vermont on November 26, 1942 and became a resident of Colchester in February, 1988. Occupation: Retired Lieutenant, Vermont State Police; presently operating a private polygraph business and a crafting business, Design Boxes. He was educated in elementary schools in Derby, Vermont; Derby Academy, Derby, Vermont. He graduated from the Vermont State Police Academy in 1966; attended Lyndon State Teachers College; Norwich University, Division of Continuing Education, majoring in criminal justice; graduated from the Keeler Polygraph Institute, Chicago, Illinois (1970); graduate of the New England State Police Command Staff College, Babson College, 1979; graduate of the F.B.I. National Police Academy, Quantico, Virginia in 1982. He is married to Marjorie Fern Vinton, and they have one son, one daughter and a granddaughter. Past member of the board of directors and councilor of Camp-Ta-Kum-ta, a summer camp for children with cancer; State of Vermont Boating Law Administrator, 1985-93; member of the United States Coast Guard Boating Safety Advisory Council, 1989-93; member of the Governor's Snowmobile Advisory Council, 1987-93; Assistant Sergeant at Arms, Vermont State House, 1995-96.
