Kids' View on Voting!

On behalf of the Vermont Secretary of State's Office, I welcome you to our home page on the World Wide Web. It is an honor to serve as Vermont's 37th Secretary of State.

As you browse through our homepage, you will find that we are a very diverse agency. The Secretary of State, through the Vermont Archives, is the custodian of many of Vermont's government records, including our important historical records, like the original Vermont Constitution. This office oversees Vermont's notaries public and we administer the licensing of business entities and filing of UCC financing statements. We oversee the state's elections, including lobbyist registration and disclosures and all campaign finance filings. Through our Office of Professional Regulation the Secretary of State's Office also administers regulatory programs for 37 occupations and professions. Vermont's local governments come to the Secretary of State's Office for information and assistance in understanding the laws that apply to them, and we also instruct citizens and government agencies about the requirements of Vermont's open government laws.

The Secretary of State's Office web pages contains a lot of important information. You can look up the names of licensed professionals or download forms to register a business. You can look at past election results and find the names and addresses of legislators or lobbyists. Or, you can visit our "Issues of Government and Governance" site to see how information from the state Archives relate to current public issues. Read our monthly "Opinions" newsletter and other publications on line. We even have a page for kids!

While each division of this agency has unique duties in the services and information it provides to the citizens of Vermont, they all share the same goals of ensuring customer satisfaction and providing quality services.

Please let us know if there are ways that we can improve our web site.
