KENNETH W. ATKINS of Winooski, Chittenden County, Democrat, was born in Winooski on June 21, 1940. Ken was a three-sport athlete at Winooski High School and graduated from there in 1959. He received a B.S. in Education from the University of Vermont in 1964. His post-graduate studies led to a masters degree in teaching with an additional 45 credits in computer studies. Ken retired in June, 1998 after 34 years as an elementary education teacher and coach in Vermont schools. He is married to Judith Miller Atkins, a former business education teacher. They have two daughters, Randi Kay Metivier and Jessica Atkins, both teachers, and a one year old granddaughter, Michaela Metivier. Ken has been active as a parish council member at St. Stephen's Church in Winooski. He is a justice of the peace, a member of the Vermont Retired Teachers' Association, the Moose Lodge and is a charter member of the Winooski Spartan Boosters. GEORGE C. CROSS of Winooski, Chittenden County, Democrat, was born on July 12, 1935 in Brattleboro, Vermont and became a resident of present town July 1, 1987. Occupation: Winooski school district superintendent. He was educated at Academy School, West Brattleboro, Vermont; Brattleboro High School; Castleton State College, Castleton, Vermont (B.Ed., 1957); North Adams State College, North Adams, Massachusetts (M.Ed., 1961); University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Massachusetts (C.A.G.S.), 1981. He is married to the former Dorothy Jane Zeno, and they have two daughters and one son. Member of: American Association of School Administrators; New England Superintendents Association; Vermont Superintendents Association; Winooski Dollars for Scholars Foundation; American Association of Retired Persons; justice of the peace.
