Supervisors shall:
- set work priorities for supervised staff.
- provide the level of supervision necessary to ensure work meets staff performance expectations.
- initiate job performance communication and provide annual performance evaluations according to Performance Evaluation Instructions.
- be receptive and responsive to employee concerns.
- plan and promote training opportunities to encourage growth of skills, knowledge and professionalism. Plan and approve training according to Travel, Time and Expense Guidelines and, in the case of training for Investigators, Investigative Unit Training Policy.
- review time sheels, Personal Expense Claim Forms and similar documents according to Travel, Time & Expense Guidelines.
- oversee staff overtime according to Overtime and Working at Home.
- receive complaints, concerns and compliments from the public regarding staff, and in the case of OPR, Board members or Advisors, and refer substantive complaints, concerns and compliments to own supervisor.
- identify policies and procedures which are needed or need revision and discuss with supervisor, and shall develop drafts of initial or revised standard operating procedures or policies for supervisor review.
- participate in meetings as directed by supervisor.
- when assigned, supervise paralegal interns according to Use of Paralegal Interns.
- maintain awareness of personnel department rules regarding supervision and consult with supervisor regarding any questions about supervision .
- upon request, participate in or conduct recruitment, interviewing, and evaluation of candidates for employment.
