THOMAS W. COSTELLO of Brattleboro, Windham County, Democrat, was born in Mitchel Field, New York on July 8, 1945, grew up in Rutland and became a resident of present town in September, 1980. Occupation: attorney. He was educated at Mt. St. Joseph's Academy, Rutland, Vermont; St. Michael's College (B.A., 1968) and Boston University School of Law (J.D., 1974). He served with the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam from 1971 to 1974 and was awarded the Bronze Star with Combat "V," and the Purple Heart. He is married to the former Suzanne Fitzpatrick. Member of: Brattleboro Area Habitat for Humanity, president. Former member of: Morningside Emergency Shelter, past president (1986-1988); VT & Irish Kids, past president (1983-1989); counsel to Town of Brattleboro (1992-1994); Rutland Mental Health Services, board of directors (1977-1980); Vermont State Colleges, board of directors (1977-1980); Vermont Advisory Committee on Civil Rules (1988-1991).
