Information about Incumbent

SUPERVISOR:     Director of the Office of Professional Regulation.

ABSTRACT:

Within the Office of Professional Regulation, the Chief Investigator supervises the Investigators and the procedures and work product of the Investigative Unit. The Chief Investigator also conducts investigations of complaints relating to unprofessional conduct of practitioners, applications for licensure, or unauthorized practice of a regulated profession. The Chief Investigator works collaboratively with the Attorney General's Office in assisting the Board, or in the absence of a Board, the Director of the Office of Professional Investigation (Director).

Work is performed with considerable independent decision-making, under the general supervision of the Director.

As required, the Chief Investigator performs all other duties consistent with the Personnel Department's Job Specification for "Licensing Board Chief Investigator."

MAJOR JOB DUTIES

  1. Plan and manage unit operation.

    Expectations:

    a) Supervise in accordance with Guidelines.

    b) Manage and monitor unit use of information technology and unit awareness of all Web pages, as appropriate.

    c) Assist in the legislative process.

    d) Participate with office management team.

  2. Supervises investigations referred to the Investigative Unit.

    Expectations:

    a) Ensures that conflicts of interest are avoided.

    b) Ensures that procedures for processing complaints and investigations are followed.

    c) Ensures utilization of CaseTrak.

    d) Ensures that confidentiality of investigations is observed.

  3. Conducts investigations.

    Expectation:

    a) Fulfills Investigator job duties and expectations as required.

  4. Interacts with other State or Federal regulatory and/or law enforcement agencies as appropriate.

    Expectations:

    a) Arranges for participation in joint investigations and other ? ventures in consultation with the director.
