FRANCIS K. BROOKS of Montpelier, Washington County, Democrat, was born in Washington D.C. on May 24, 1943 and became a resident of present town in June, 1967. Occupation: teacher, secondary education. He was educated in elementary schools in Alexandria, Virginia; Parker-Gray High School, Alexandria; Norwich University, Northfield, Vermont (B.S., 1967); Clarkson College, Potsdam, New York (M.S., 1974). KAREN BITTERMANN KITZMILLER of Montpelier, Washington County, Democrat, was born in Champaign, Illinois on November 28, 1947 and became a resident of present town in 1974. Current occupation: innkeeper and printmaker. Formerly, 20 years as social service administrator. She was educated in elementary schools in Knollwood, Ohio and Melbourne, Florida and graduated from Surrattsville High School, Clinton, Maryland. She attended Cornell University, Ithaca, New York (B.S., 1969). She is married to Warren F. Kitzmiller, and they have two daughters. She serves on the Commission on Public Health Care Values and Priorities; Kids Count; Vermont Food Bank; The Box Project; Governor's Council on Affirmative Action, chair.
